Branching System (top two) and Study for Lit from Within (bottom) are the 2 of the current exhibits at Brooklyn’s Dam, Stuhltrager gallery. There designed by Ryan Wolfe.
Branching System is based in the theories of Edward Lorenz, who created the “butterfly effect” concept of Chaos Theory and Study for Lit from Within pairs living plants with LED lights in a dark room. The lights are surgically embedded into the actual plants and operate on a programmed schedule of sunrise and sunset. Each plant’s “internal sunshine” allows for photosynthesis, thus keeping it alive while creating a striking, futuristic display.

But sadly, it has died. It grew to large and the artists had to kill it.
“started growing, growing, growing until it became too big. And [the artists] were back in Australia, so I had to make the decision to kill it. And you know what? I felt I could not make that decision. I’ve always been pro-choice and all of a sudden I’m here not sleeping at night about killing a coat…That thing was never alive before it was grown.”

VACAVILLE, Calif. - A pit bull escapes a “ruff” situation after being found stuck inside a pickup truck engine on Tuesday.
It happened in the city of Vacaville, about 30 miles west of Sacramento.
The truck’s owner said he made the discovery when he went add some power steering fluid to his vehicle. Walter Witthoeft popped the hood and said he saw a pair of eyes staring back at him.
He realized a pit bull had somehow found his way into the truck’s engine compartment.
The pooch growled and Witthoeft went and called police. He said the officers who arrived couldn’t believe what they were seeing either.
The dog had shredded the engine compartment, in an apparent attempt to chew his way out of his situation. Witthoeft said the pooch had bitten through the wires, vacuum hoses as well as gas lines. He said he suspects the dog got into the engine sometime Monday night and stayed there until the hood was popped.
The dog was safely removed and the truck was taken to the shop.
How’d he get in there? He must have been chasing something.
